Sports Day is back for a bigger and better event in 2024!

Wednesday 22nd May 2024
AFC Wimbledon

Back for a second year we’ll once again be going old school sports day for the best team building event you can ask for (according to our teams from 2023)!
An inclusive, action-packed and, most importantly, fun afternoon with time to meet Coach Core graduates, apprentices and celebrity supporters. Followed by a chance to relax with your teammates over great food and drinks.

Check out the 2023 highlights video and photos.

Sales for new teams will open in December. If you took part in 2023, please check your email for our loyalty offer or speak to your team captain!

A huge thanks to our 2023 sponsor CSL Group. If you’re interested in sponsoring or getting involved with the event this year, please get in touch [email protected].

About Coach Core

Coach Core is an employment and education charity that uses the long-term power of sport and apprenticeships to change the lives of young adults across the UK who traditionally experience barriers, discrimination and lack of opportunities.

Here’s the model:

  • We put disadvantaged young people on the path to a career with passion and purpose, getting them into employment and education at the same time.
  • The organisations that employ Coach Core apprentices get a passionate and diverse young workforce capable of making change in communities in which they’ll work, because they’re from them.
  • The community gets an increase in sport and activity provision – with proven physical and mental health benefits – from positive role models for the next generation.

Coach Core began as a programme at The Royal Foundation in 2012, as part of the legacy of the London Olympic and Paralympic Games. It was shaped by seeing the devastation of the 2011 London riots and the Centre for Social Justice’s report that looked at how best to harness the power of sport to transform the lives of young people. What began as a single pilot programme has grown to 19 sites across the UK and over 800 apprentices through the last 10 years.

In 2020, Coach Core became an independent charity and, in 2021, launched its new strategy to provide more opportunities for disadvantaged young people.
